Reports translation: sustainability and finance, plus a business meeting for guests from abroad

In November we assisted Acciaierie Bertoli Safau, the Steelmaking division of the Danieli Group, with the translation into English of the sustainability report and financial statements for the latest financial year. In addition to these publications, our support was requested for an event attended by international guests.

What is it about?

We have been working for some time with an important local company, ABS – Acciaierie Bertoli Safau, on an increasing variety of translations with diversified multi-language communication requirements. The Company in this case needed to translate three important corporate documents into English and required interpreting services at its annual business meeting where ESG objectives and the Company’s commitment to development over the coming years were examined.

What does the project look like?

The project required several weeks and a number of complementary activities for the work to be completed. We started with the translation of the separate and consolidated financial statements, and the sustainability report, which we have already translated several editions of. These documents are renewed from year to year but retain a number of fixed texts and standard terminology, where continuity is crucial in managing the translation. Parallel to this, the organisation of the interpreting service for the company meeting began, which was attended by a majority of Italian guests and a small group of people from abroad. The event was held at the Danieli Academy over the course of one full day, with talks ranging from sales analysis to sustainability, from products to the investment plan, and ended with a game aimed at team building.

How was the translation work organized?

Five professionals worked on this complex project: the three financial statements required coordination, revision and the insertion of new texts into the final layout (DTP), in addition to the actual translation. The software makes the work much faster and easier by managing the archive and repetitions, terminology and quality control so we were able to concentrate on the details and the correctness of the wording. The translations then underwent further checks by the auditing company. With regard to the corporate event, in addition to managing organisation, two professionals were required to take turns in simultaneous interpreting into English. They accompanied the 6 foreign guests throughout the day, facilitating communication and understanding of the talks using the appropriate equipment for this type of situation (in this case, a bidule system with headphones and microphone).

To sum up:

This was an interdisciplinary job, as our work always is: from financial terminology and occupational safety to steel production lines and commitment to net zero emissions. Sectorial expertise, an eye for graphics, technology and the ability to improvise are all complementary resources that, when forces are joined, enable optimal results to be achieved.
